What do you say when a voter you’re talking to expresses racist views? How do we respond to concerns that mass immigration is driving the housing crisis, or that people from certain ethnic backgrounds aren’t ‘integrating’?
Where’s the line between challenging bigotry strongly, and finding common ground so we can shift people’s thinking without shaming them or pushing them away?
If someone expresses strong opposition to First Nations sovereignty, or refugee rights, or Palestinian liberation, should we divert and talk about other things, or force a tough conversation?
These are big challenges that we can’t hope to solve in a single night of discussion, but it’s important we at least start to unpack them in the context of election campaigning.
Join us for an informal, facilitated online discussion and training session to upskill and strategise collectively.
